those are two stroke engines no valve train to deal with
granted, but the valve train should function properly either way right?

no. it would flow in reverse, i think you need a special cam. two strokes have a compression cycle each stroke, so they dont care, they always suck in air from the same place.

There is a huge industry out there for "kit cars" and some one has or is doing this right now. I would google it up.There is more aftermarket support for kits now, more than ever. One swap that was common for a while was v-8 corvair, and the motor was hanging off the end, instead of mid engine. Another was a 911 and it was hanging out the back too. Crown was the kit for the corvair.but it was midengined, but someone bought the company a guy named "Clarks Corvairs" and they have Old Stock and if ya call them they are a wealth of info, start there and search, "jags that run" is what i used to start the search, and when i hit related search 2000 hits. so the info is out there. Try v-8 corvair and look around.
Doug Herbert (herbert cams/racing. actually Chet is his dad and he knows everyone, if he's still alive.) used to be the guy for weird ****, maybe he can help with the cam there's someone out there that will grind ya a cam,ya gotta be willing to hunt it up and make 100 phone cals, but if ya start with herbert or isky or maybe schneider cams, they might know, those guys have been around since the 50's, and where pioneers. mj

Most of the GT40 replicas and others use Porsche gearboxes turned upside down so they can run the engine in front of the box.

Another option is an Audi trans axle. These are gaining popularity with the mid engine V8 builders as they are strong and more readily available than the Porsche G50 unit. These run the right way up as they are designed for a north south motor in a front wheel drive car.

Cheers

Michael

If using a solid axle, all that would be needed it so flip the whole thing over. This would cause it to rotate the opposite direction.
