Default Advice and Guidance

I got a 6.0(LQ9) I think. With the 4l80E out of an 02 2500HD for my 68 Nova. It has 57K miles on it. What mods are safe and what should I do before I put it in? I already have the Throttle body spacer off MY 02 HD truck and the programmer.

You'll want some boltons, get your TB ported, and possibly a mild cam. The TB spacer wont help much at all, if any. First mod i'd do, is get an LS6 intake, get your TB ported, some headers, UD pulley. If you can afford it later, get a cam for it, too. See the "External Engine" section, you'll learn lots of things there. good luck, welcome to the forum.

On that truck motor if you swap to the LS6 intake you will have to do some mods to your accessory drive for clearance or change over to the F Body or corvette accessory drives. I would sugest a torque converter swap while you have it all apart too. Depending on your intended use, for basic street use 2800-3200 would be a good range and would make a big difference.

ah, thanks, pat. Forgot about clearance. The idler pulley needs to be moved a little bit lower on the block to clear the TB if you go to a car-style intake. Also good reccomendation for the stall, it'll really wake up the car.

Thanks for the info. I found out it's the LQ4, so it's a lil lower compression. Which is a good thing, cuz a whipple is the next major purchase. Probably in a year. I need to find come good shops in Bakersfield. That's where I will be moving around Sept. when I return from deployment. Any recommendations?

All of the truck engines are lower compression. A lot of people put 5.7 or 5.3 heads to bump the compression on N/A engines, but if you're gonna stick a blower on it, it's just right as/is.
