Default GN rx-7

did a search and didn't find anything.
has anyone put a 3.8 turbo from a GN in a 2nd gen rx-7?

i think it would be a badass swap, it would be quite untile wot. i think it would be a good sleeper.

Here are a number of GN conversions.
http://www.turbobuicks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6305

Mine went mid 11's with a stock turbo, home ported heads (not pretty), small cam, and a good intercooler with $100 non mandrel bent single 3" exhaust.

you can adapt a T56 or TK0 5speed (GM style) with an adapter plate and custom flywheel. Anything else won't stand up to the abuse and this conversion will be $$$. Plus it will be slower as you will be constantly rebuilding boost when you shift gears. The auto keeps the boost up during shifts.

That is the main reason I went LS1. For the manual tranny and the fact they redline a lot higher. GN factory redline is 5400rpm. Built up with good rods/pistons it is about 6200rpm. They are great drag race motors... but asking for it do other things would require a Stage 2 setup ($$$$$).

If you're really serious about drag racing a (relatively) small diplacement turbo car with a stick shift, an adjustable two-step rev limiter (stutterbox) can be used to keep boost up during shifts just like it's used to build boost off the line. The rev limiter is engaged off a clutch switch that drops the redline to match the shift point of the next gear. The throttle plate is never closed and ignition is cut while the clutch is in, dumping unburned fuel on the hot turbo where it ignites, keeping boost pressure from dropping.

This all gives you quick flat-foot shifts with hardly any loss in boost. And the unburned fuel hitting the turbo makes some nifty fireworks.

But like said, it's all how much $$$$$$$$...
