Default LS6 into 95 M3...

I am in the process of converting my Street Mod M3 into an EMod M3 for SCCA Solo2 racing. Got the motor and a built 'glide and will be starting to rig up the mounts for it over the next couple of weeks.

One question for now...
Are there any preferred mini starters for this combo? Weight is a huge concern for me, so the smallest, lightest starter will be the best. Thanks!

bad ***! bmw motors suck! hahaha no they dont but if you want to go fast they do. 6 throttle bodies? Ok great, have fun modding that! my buddy has one, i love the car, i love the engine, but theres no way to make that thing go 11's for under 30g after purchase of the car haha.

Ive never heard of a lightweight mini starter for the lsx cars. However if you do find one, please link us to it, id love to have one myself.

6 TBs didn't start until the S54 motor in the E46 M3 for the US. The 95-99 M3s were E36s.

Well the 'glide is an experiment. Given that most courses require only a 1-2 shift and nothing more, having 6 gears seems pointless (not to mention heavy) And, like bracket racing, consistency is key, so the glide may be pretty sweet. I am trying to gear the car so that I can use 1st for short courses and only use drive for the long, AAS style courses. I also want to be as light as possible, so I don't want to have to over-cage the car to keep it from twisting, the auto will be a little nicer to the chassis (and the E36 halfshafts) as it won't torque-shock as badly.

I should have some pics this weekend of the chassis and engine, before I start chopping up the tunnel.

the starter on the LS1 is tiny, weighs at max 5 lbs. its already a mini starter so dont worry about it.

I think the last thing you're going to be worried about is the weight of the starter on a project like that.

Erik-

Hey, welcome to the LSx Swap world.

Im the guy with the black LS1 RX7 that you have probably seen at a few atwater and SF region events.

Im currently down going to a bigger motor, but if you see me at an autoX, come over and say hi, Ill show you a lot of stuff about swapping.

Also - I really want those new 285/30/18 710s you have for sale on baax, but am a little strapped for cash. Wanna cut a LS1 guy a deal?

I like the glide idea, btw. What are you going to do to the motor? What are your goals, power wise?

Shifting waste time. Besides there is no traction out of low speed corners and when you do hook up the engine is not always in the heart of the power band. With some a nice loose torque converter or one that is programable the RPMs could when the tq con. applies between the turns.

Good luck and post some pics!
