Default oil pan swaps...

Hi All,

I'm swapping a truck pan onto my '03 Corvette long block and the rear corner of the pan interferes with the stock vette crank windage tray at the oil filter boss. Do you cut the vette tray, buy a truck tray, or do without?

What about the dipstick and/or tube? Seems like the oil level will be quite a bit higher with the vette 'stick. Can a longer 'stick be had?

Part numbers for the above?

Thanks!

Russ

I had a similar problem when swapping from truck stuff to f-body stuff. The best solution would be to buy a truck windage tray, but if your short on time like I was pull the tray off the motor and cut it. For the dipstick swap to a truck dipstick and tube. I don`t have part numbers but GM partsdirect would. You can use their catalog to find them, just put in the year, make, model for whatever you bought the truck pan for. http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/partsvoice/frameset.cfm

S10xGN,

Are you in need of the truck stuff?
I have a brand NEW pan, tray and dip stick form an LQ9 crate motor. Because I need the LS1/6 pan, tray and dip stick! I also have the LQ9 water pump from this motor and need a LS1/6 pump if you are interested in a trade for those as well!

Got the pan, gasket and bolts off E-Bay, ordered the correct crankshaft windage tray, pickup tube, and dipstick from Dal. Will attempt to use my Corvette dip tube and "re-engineer" the truck dipstick to fit...

Thanks for the numbers!

Why would a truck oil pan be needed if you swap an F-body LS1 into an S10 or any truck? What is wrong with F-body oil pan?

the truck oil pan has more clearance for the cross member.most of the depth is all the way to the rear, where the f-body has it's depth start about half way across the pan..
