Default 77 Bandit TA

My 77 Trans Am Smokey and the Bandit LS1/6spd is finally about to get going a little faster, i got the car back from paint today (dropped it off in nov). Now i get to start fitting the engine/trans and making everything work. Here are some pics. Can't wait to get this car back together with a 400+ RWHP LS1

Beautiful, looks very very straight. Did you do bodywork yourself, or did they do it? Post more pics once you get it re-assembled, it's going to look great.

Beeeeauuuutiful !!! Oh how I miss my 79 T/A. That's the one I miss most. Mine was just like that Black and straight as an arrow-- you can't beat it !! Congrats. I'm hoping to paint my 74 Camaro in about a month or so - I'm excited - tired of looking at the primer . Again though ... congrats , well done. Post more pics when your all buttoned up.

wow
one of the cars I'd like to mod as well, but every time I Think about the undertaking, it makes me tired just thinking of everything that would need to be fixed on it :O, that is prior to putting a built LS1/6 into it

excellent choice and please keep us updated

Hey, another one! I'm in the middle of mine right now. A few pictures below. The body/paint/interior were completed last month. But when we pulled the engine, it was clear that the restoration shop didn't do anything about the subframe/chassis/etc and it was a bit of a mess. So today the fenders got pulled off and hopefully in the next day or 2 the subframe will get dropped and sent off to be blasted and powdercoated.

I've also decided to change the order of how I'm doing things. Original plan was to get the new engine/xmission in and then work on the suspension. But since we're pulling fenders off, dropping the subframe, etc. it seems like a smarter idea to do all the suspension/brakes work first.

While it will look as stock as possible, this is going to be a solid pro-touring vehicle. To give you an idea:

Suspension: pro-touringf-body.com front springs and rear leafs with new poly & rubber bushings and shackles; pro-touring-fbody subframe connectors and solid body bushings; SC&C adjustable upper control arms with race bushings and tall lower ball joint for better camber, caster and bumpsteer; Global West del-a-lum bushings in the lower control arm; poly bushings for front/rear sway bar; new rear sway bar drop link; QA1 adjustable shocks all around.

Steering: all new moog steering linkages (tie-rods, ball joints, center drag, idler); ATS 12:1 steering box,

Brakes: wilwood drilled/slotted discs all around

Wheels: Works VS-XX 17x9.5 with 275/40's up front and 17x10.5 with either 285/40's or 315/35's in the back.

And of course, the LS1+T56, true dual exhaust and mods as $$ allows.

Yeehaw!!!!! Here's a picture of her. I've got about 200 more pictures that I've got in a hidden gallery on my site (ls1bandit.com) which I'll make public after I organize things a bit.

Here's a photo of another 78 with wheels identical to what I'm putting on mine (I'd show you photos of mine, but they're still being made )
