Default LS1 into LT1 k-member

K so here's the deal my buddy's thinking a turbo setup on a lt1 z and wants to switch it to a lsx block due to the ability to make more power and having a strong block to boot. So I guess my question would be what needs to be done to make this work? Any big set backs? Can he use his existing k member with the block?

P.S. doesn't plan on using a stock ls1 pcm either.

This is not advanced performance tech, try the conversions and hybrids department:

BTW... Isnt an LT block stronger than an LS block? (iron vs alum)

Ahh thanks for the location post didn't see that. If a mod could move this one it'd be much appreciated. He was planning on using a iron 6.0 block punch out to 4XX CI's depending.

Hmm, don't take this as a flame because it's not intended as one towards you but more towards your friend. If he wants to go through all the trouble to install a LS into his LT car why not also swap the kmember? I mean realistically does your friend really know what he's doing? Yeah he can make it work but it isn't the most simple thing. Why sit there and try to get driveline angles right and have to fab up mounts and so on when you can get the parts off the shelf to do it no problem and they will bolt right up? I've done that whole deal of fabbing everything because I didn't have a choice and neithor did many of the other guys that have done conversions. Most of them will say if there were reasonably priced quality conversion parts out there they would have used them in a heart beat vs having to fab everything. I'd be willing to spend alittle extra cash to spare myself from a headache. Getting a motor set in right at the right angles can take all of a weekend doing it by yourself. Then still you have to figure out of the tranny crossmember will work ect ect. What about driveshaft length? Tell your friend he's nuts and get the damned k-member!

Haha, yeah he doesn't have any problems swapping in a ls1 k-member at all. We were just wondering if the lt1 member would work just fine. Yeah just trying to map everything out before he starts this project of his.
