Default GMPP/Wegner distributer drive VS MSD/Edelbrock controller

I was looking for anyone who may have information about the Wegner Automotive distributer drive assembly. I was at a car show this past weekend and a guy had a ls6 in a 79 camaro with this and it looked pretty trick. Seems a bit more tuneable than the MSD/Edelbrock unit. I talked to a guy from Wegner and He said that they have been using this for some time now on alot of race engines with no problems. He also said that the GMPP/Wegner intake made a 11 more horse than the Victor Jr.

I am planning on building a 5.3 for a 27 ford T. I was thinking that the Edelbrock RPM manafold would be a better choice for the smaller ports than a single plane. I was also thinking about the GMPP Hot Cam and fenderwell headers and clean up the ports and gasket match the heads. The car should be under 1700 lbs when done and I'm thinking that 400 hp should be optainable. I have done alot of searching about caburated gen 3 engines and I guess I would just like some feedback on getting in the right direction.
