Can keys stop ignition and spark?

Can keys stop ignition and spark? 
I need to get this thing started!!! At my work I saw that alot of newer cars require a new key to be programmed to start the car... and the car turns over! Cannot get spark or ignition on ky Volvette and I was wondering if a key(for a LS1) can cause this condition. Could this be the case for F-body's??? My motor is out of a 99 trans. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

If the VATS was not deleted from your computer then yes the car will not run. However it should start/run for a second or two. Anway you need to have either a VATS bypass box, the VATS deleted, or to be running the body control module (BCM) in order for the car to stay running.
yes. it's the key. What you'll want to do is delete VATS (security system) via tuner, to allow it fuel and spark. OR you could look up the VIN of your PCM and order the correct key from the dealership, and use the VATS module built into the factory car harness.
