Default Wiring harness question

i talked to john at speartech and he said for the time being they are not converting ls1 harness' anymore. dont know if this is something thats set in stone or if they will eventually start again but that leaves me with some questions.

i recently found out that the wiring harness in my 94 z28 is complete under the dash. theres two wires i cant find but the rest looks like its there. now provided i find those two wires how would i go about wiring the new harness up?

from what i understand, i just match the wires to their appropriate spots using two wiring diagrams. but theres my question. does the lt1 dash wiring harness and the ls1 engine/pcm harness physically plug together (wires in different pins) or do i need to purchase new connectors and if so which ones do i get?

lastly john at speartech told me i needed to look for 3 wires in the car. 1 10 slot connector (which i believe i found under the hood and i can take a pic if needed) and then a white one and dark blue one under the pass. side of the dash. i cant find those. anyone have a pic of what im looking for there?

thanks for the help.

If you can't find a ready made harness (have you tried Ebay & Painless or Street & Performance?), the best way to do what you want to do is to have wiring diagrams for each vehicle, i.e. the one the motor harness came from and the one it is going into.

I think there is some common areas of the LT1 & LS1 harnesses, but to be 100% right, there is no substitute for a diagram. Do you have the GM "LS1 Engine Kit Installation Guide"? This book has all the pinouts the LS1 crate motor used, as well as several diagrams for power, SES, DLC, sensors, etc.

I'm using this to adapt a Gen 3 harness to my Supra.

The other thing you need is the GM Shop Manual for your '94. There are a BUNCH of wiring diagrams in this book. I used this on my LT1 280Z project & while it was not super easy, it can be done. You may be able to find some JPG scans of the particular diagram, and a great source for LT1 info is www.shbox.com and there is another page for wiring:
http://shbox.com/1/schematics_wiring.html . This will show you the three plugs inside the LT1 cars and what the wires do. I think these were for '95, but yor should be the same since they are both OBD1.

ok cool i looked a little on shoebox's website but didnt go really in depth because at the time i was still waiting to hear back from speartech.

but im still wondering if the connectors actually physically plug together or if i have to change them. that seems to be the thing no body talks about...

*EDIT*als you said that Gm installation book has the wiring diagram for the crate engine, i would assume its the same wiring used for an fbody right? do we know what year harness the crate engine uses? i woudl think its a 98 given the different coolant temp sensor.

I can't help you with the connectors, I've got no experience with what you want to do. I'm sure there is someone here that is doing or has done it & could help. I'd figure the GM book dealt wit the 99-02 LS1 models, since the crate motor was available during that time, but don't know enough about the wiring differences. I noticed some of the pinouts were blank, even though they were used for something.
