Default ls1 stang questions

I am very interested in this conversion and hopefully will go ahead and buy a 4 cyl to begine this swap soon.

I have searched and researched a lot but still had some questions:

1. From pictures it seems that the ls1 is quite smaller in width than a 302. It seems like there is a lot less header access on my friends mustang then in the pictures. Is this true or just seems that way in the pictures?

2. with the 4.6 k-member and mounts, how close to the firewall is the motor? it seems like 4-6 inches. Are people that have done this swap satisfied with this distance or would they prefer it further back.
I guess if I wasnt satisfied I could adjust the k member or find an aftermarket one that would have a setback engine location.

3. Should I only use 87+ FI cars for donors? would the fuel tank and lines of a carbed 79-86 work or would I need to swap the fuel system from a newer mustang?

4. From what I understand, only 2 years of the corvette ls1 came with return style fuel system. So assuming I would get a motor and tranny out of a camaro it probably would be returnless. Is this easy to fix? I assume I would install a regulator by the fuel tank and a return line from there.

I'm sorry for the long post but I hope that I can get some of these answers out of the way which would pusuade me to do this swap.

1. Yes, its smaller in every dimension actually.

2. There's more like an inch or two between the back of the block and the firewall. I need to take new photos, but this is pretty much what it looks like:

With the transmission attached and the driveline fully setup at the proper angle, you end up with everything just where it should be.

3. You can use any car for the donor. If you use a carbed car, you'll need to mount a fuel pump inline somewhere, but that's trivial.

4. You can do either a return-style or a returnless system. I chose to do a return style for simplicity, but there's nothing stopping you from simply sticking a regulator on the frame rail and running the single pressure line up to the rail.

I had already checked out your website and most of what I know has come from there.

I understand that a few people have done a t56 but I couldnt find any writeup of how to do it. Someone has done a copy of a turbocoupe i believe but thats all i know.
