Alternator and PS pump differences
I was wondering if anyone knew if the V's alternator is the same alternator used on a ~2000 Camaro, just with the housing clocked differently like GM used to do with the older style alternators they used on the LT1's.
I was also wondering if the power steering pump is actually the same pump with a different pulley, or if it is in fact a totally different pump. I'm trying to piece it together, and also trying to save some money where I can...I already have the complete accessory drive off of the 2000 camaro that the engine came from, but I'm looking to make it a bit more compact with the CTS-V's parts.
I can't answer your CTS-V questions directly....
What I can tell you is this:
The truck alternator and the corvette alternator "look" like they're the same, but the mounting pattern is spread about 1/2" or so. That doesn't help you directly, but just be warned, that it may "look" similar, but GM can screw you.... Best bet would be to compare directly before buying parts. However, with a small alum adapter I made the truck alternator fit on the vette bracket.
Can't help you with the ps pump. The vette & f-body pumps are similar but different. You'd have thought they'd have used the same pump, but not GM......Again, best bet would be to mock it up with the parts & pieces you've already got and the CTS-V bracket and see if it works together.
Best of luck....
