heh, i was just looking around.. they seem ALOT closer to fitting then any of the 4thgen/C5/C6 headers.... they look like they might fit with a tubular Kmember thirdgen..

I would like to help, but don't trust UPS or any other company w/ shipping these things around. I was not totally impressed w/ the finish when I got them and have already added a couple scratches myself. If any measurements would help I am willing to do that for you.

i can tell you that the 4th gen headers (tts) fit in my first gen, just the steering box in the way. i dont know if that helps but if someone know the interchangability of 3rd vs 4th that might help from a reverse engineering standpoint, heres a pic if it helps.

Leon the 4th gen fitment is a problem because of where the headers go at the bottom, they typically go straight back and it interferes with the frame rail, where as the custom made headers tilt inwards towards the tranny.

I personally dont know anything about how a 1st gen header works, but if they tilt inwards, it might work.

exactly.

his attached pic highlights the problem:

look at the bottom of that header.. notice how the collector is pointing outward? now most normal car headers point straight back, parallel to the transmission.. but the 4thgens have it kicked out to the side so that the Ypipe can go out and around....

the real problem isnt clearing things up top, its that bottom collector hitting the subframe and suspension of the car from undernieth.

i was just thinking.. wait a sec... on chevelles and firstgens, they have a "normal" exhaust that goes thru the trans tunnel... so these headers might work.

that helps alot.

if you could tell me how far away that 3" exit tube is from the T56 on each side, and how far back it is, i could use that measurement on my car and tell if the collector will work.

i only have two tight spots... the collector exit location we're talking about now, and the drivers side near the brake booster... and i expect your brake booster is in about the same location, so that should clear just fine...

I will take measurements tonight after work for you. My brake booster is no where close to hitting and I'm going hydroboost so it will be even smaller.

What trans are you planning on running?

im currently driving it with the T56... its a straight pullout from a 02fbody, trans and all.. shes just choking herself with the stock exhaust manifolds.

on a side note... i found something intresting.
anyone else ever notice how much the stainless works 1stgen camaro swap headers look like the stainless works "3rdgen swap" headers from hawks?? i mean, while they are slightly diffrent, they're almost identical..... too bad the entire point of this is that i DONT want to spend $800 on a set of headers.. lol.

You use [IMG] tags like a quote, but w/ IMG the last one needs a [/IMG].

[IMG]Put the web address for the file in here.[/IMG] They must be online. Right click the image and copy location, then paste it between the tags.

  • attach the pic like you normally do, and post your post up.
  • now click your attached pic so you can see it fullsize.
  • at the top of the browser, is the address of the pic... copy that entire line. ( if you dont know how to copy, just ask)
  • go back to your post
  • click edit
  • put the cursor where you want the pic to be.
  • paste in the address you copied earlier.
  • highlight the address you copied, and press the "picture" button... it looks like a yellow box with a mountian in it.

that should be it... once you get the hang of it, it'll only take a couple seconds to do.

Ok. I took some measurements this morning before work and it it 6" to the inside and 9" to the outside of the collector. This is the distance away from the T56.

They end right before where the trans gets larger. A little below and forward of the first solenoid on the drivers side of the trans. Kind of hard to explain, but I didn't have time for a pic.

In this pic right where the strap is going around the trans is where I am trying to describe.

Let me know if this helps or needs more description/measurements.
