Default where can we get equivalent diodes nowadays????

since radio shack is gone?

Radio Shack equivalent #1N4001 diodes

I know we can get some on amazon, but are there any generic local stores throughout the USA that carries these things?

Yes. I recognize that. I had saved it ages ago for reference to that diode part number. Last time I needed some I just wandered down to Radio Shack...... they are no more so I thought I'd ask here so that reference to the part number was available for folks wondering why i was asking.

Digi-Key or Mouser Electronics will have these for cheap but shipping will be far more than the actual cost of the parts. Call up the fire alarm and home security installation people in your town. They will know where the local mom & pop electrical component shops are located.

Ebay and Amazon also. 1N4001 is an industry standard naming convention, not Radio Shack specific.
