help getting engine started
help getting engine started What are the necesary components(wiring, sensor) needed to get my engine started(00' Camaro LS1). Im working on bypassing the VATS with a resistor until i can get it tuned out of the ECU. The engine cranks, but i dont belive the injectors are firing. I pulled up the fuel rail and couldnt see or feel any fuel spraying out of them. Other than the VATS what else should i check?

Try wait4meperformance.com to remove the VATS, cheap. Don't waste your time with the resistor or spoof box...
That being said, the engine will still start with VATS, it will just shut off within a second or two. You may have the same problem I had, namely plugged injectors. If your engine sat around for awhile, the gas could have gone bad. I cleaned them with non-chlorinated brake clean, which got a couple spraying fuel. I then soaked them in Seafoam overnight. That seemed to do the trick. Otherwise you could send them out for a profesional cleaning.
Do you have spark? If you do, the injectors are most likely being fired by the PCM. If you want to double check that, find yourself an analog multimeter. Back probe one of the injector plugs, and crank the engine. You will see a slight dip in the meter movement every other revolution of the engine. A digital meter reacts too slow to pick this up...

The engine sat around for 9 months, so they might be clogged. Ill try and clean them and soak them. I only have a digital multimeter. Is there any other way to determine if the injectors are firing? and how should i check for spark?

For spark, I pull the wire off of the plug, and put an old plug in the end of the wire. Vice grip clamp it to something metal, and crank the engine. If it is sparking, you will see it.
As for the multimeter, you can pick of a cheap analog meter for ~$5.
