Here is a pic of the shifter.

I don't have a pic of the clutch master mount, but Scooter 70 has a CAD drawing of one.

Hey Matt

How did the car run pre-tune?

OK, that looks easy enough, Thanks.
A CAD drawing would be great. Are there any drawings of the motor mount adapter any where?

It loped pretty good but didn't idle very well. Once the computer learned the idle, it managed to stay running at stoplights. People drive around with smaller cams without tuning all the time but it's far from optimal.

The FAQ (the sticky post at the top of the forum) has a link to the two motor mount adapter drawings. I'll have to look around for the clutch bracket. It used to be in the S&P catalog so you can start by looking there.

I recieved the motor today!
Heres some more questions for the C3 guys. I was looking at the location of the ac compressor. After relocateing the motor mounts, is it going to fit in the C3 or do I have to buy an after market drive setup?
Can I keep the tracktion control feature with a T56?
Should I buy my own laptop programing software or have someone else do it?
I'm going to pull it apart and put new bearings, cam, seals, etc. should I go ahead and have the heads ported and revalved or wait until get it runing first so I Know the electronics are all cool, then go back and do the heads?
I have to admit I'm a little intimadated by this swap. I'm trying to learn as much as I can about these engines. I love the new technology in them, just a little behind on the tuning and programing aspect.
Thanks, Dean

Dean ,i think the a/c compressor has to be mounted up top passenegr side i dont htink theres enough room where the factory fbody mounts down low.

No. The C5 traction control system is integrated with the ABS and Active Handling if your donor car was equiped with AH. If wheelspin is sensed then first it cuts back on the throttle, then starts applying the rear brakes to control it. You would need the C5 wheel speed sensors, Electronic Brake Control Module/Brake Pressure Modulator, etc.

I would get the laptop and HP tuners. You can have someone else do it, but then if you do any mods, you will have to get someone again and again. Its well worth it to just do it yourself. And if you do the tuning, then you can do the troubleshooting if something goes wrong down the road.

If you have it in your budget, build up the motor you want from the begining. Its hard to take apart a good running motor once you get it in. I still regret not doing a cam when I had the motor on the garage floor. And that was 4-1/2 years ago. Still no cam.

I wouldn't bother having anything done to the stock heads. Just get a set of Patriot LS6 heads and be done with it. They are getting really cheap. Probably close to getting the stock heads worked anymore.

As for tuning help. There is a whole section of this forum dedicated to the various tuning methods and software available.

Dean,
Did your doner include all the accessories also? I am also doing a 79 C3 ls1 (2001 vette) w/T-56 (converting from auto). I test fit my vette LS1 w/o tranny (with energy suspension poly mounts with mod'ed plates) the other week, and might be able to live with the batwing oil pan and my stock power steering (with some cuts/mods to oil pan). The f-body oil pan would be nice, but $ a bit - also going rack and pinon would be nice....choices, choices, and more $$
I also had stock C3 AC and want to retain, figuring either custom high on pass side compressor mount, or S&P mounts (but those $ keep hitting). The vette accessories are different than f-body, most have used f-body and seems like Pat (nitrovette) is going f-body accessory brackets/balancer also (maybe we are swimming up river?).
Your empty engine bay looks very familiar, my old engine/tranny are now out and I am in process of restoring my engine bay - POR15, new heater/ac seals, some wiring changes to repair old burnt C3 wires. Still wrestling with freshening my LS1 first (but then new cam, and god knows what else - the 'while I am there syndrome') or putting in as is and upgrading later (would like blower or turbo eventually).
I got a used C3 manual pedal assy, plan to use the 85 chevy truck master cylinder, new slave, with stock LS6 clutch assy (don't want to have to break that open again if can help). Using 99 fbody ecm and wiring (converting from auto to manual), plan to get the laptop tuner package (unless find someone nearby to help to save $$). You might notice my desire to save $$ - planned a budget, executing pretty good to it, but all these 'nice to have while i am here' things always pushing to break the budget.
My schedule is not agressive, lucky to be engine in and running by Dec 06. Still need to work out accessories, fuel reg/pump etc., gotta restore interior, new paint, ... it seems never ending...but I do enjoy the process.
I appoligize for rambling, had a couple of drinks and getting tired...
Steve
