i dont know why everyone thinks they should get sponsored

heres reality check, sorry if it hurts your feelings

1. if your not on tv, you dont need sponsorship, and companies dont care
2. if your not in magazines, companies dont care
3. if your not in magazines, tv, or any other media, or in front of a lot of people companies dont, and wont care. its advertising, nobody cares about you going ot a carshow with 20 people at it
4. if you do get sponsorship, that doesnt follow logic in 1-3, and it COSTS MONEY TO SIGN UP then its NOT a sponsorship, its a scam, and if you sign up for it you are a ******* retard.

heres how carssponsorships.com works

"well give you a xx% discount and a $xxxxxx sponsorship for no justifiable reason"

heres how it really works

well give you 50% off our prices that are 300% markup, with a 10,000 of your dollar limit, and you be our little bitch and put our stickers on your car.

in which case i will BEAT their deal, if you buy 10k in parts from me, ill give you 50% off 200% retail, cool?

A long, long time ago I raced an off-road car in all sorts of "Grand Prix" and desert type point to point races.......our little team did well in our racing organization and I got up to #2 in points one season..... that was with alot of finishes and a few wins. Several equipment manufacturers noticed and some sponsorship deals were struck. That next year turned a fun hobby into a nightmare of "required appearances", crappy penny-ante races at bogus and ill-prepared closed courses and of course the obligatory "photo op" appearances at Malls, car shows and other crap I had no interest in doing. Sponsorships can be a real pain in the tail! There are probably some good deals made and I don't want to discourage anyone but......it isn't all it's cracked up to be and I would imagine they are far and few between these days anyway.

I've seen what comes with sponsorship working on the drag bike team; we're lucky to have some REALLY great sponsors, but we also have multiple national/world championships and records. Anyone can get sponsored, but the reality of it is you'll likely have spent more money getting to the level necessary to attract sponsorship then you'd ever recover in parts, endorsements and contingency.
