Oil temp sender?

I think it goes to the PCM but you don`t need it, but it`s kinda nice to have if you regularly beat on/race the car. Only a few LSx cars had it anyway, I think just the vettes and CTS - V`s. If you decide not to run it just make sure to check if there is a code for it in the PCM, there probably is. If there is make sure to delete it so that you don`t get a check engine light.

If you're talking about the plug down in the oil pan sump, that is an oil LEVEL sensor not temp. That does just go to a dash light, not the PCM.
The Vettes have a temp sensor up by the oil filter that goes to the PCM.
