Default Sender Help

I'm putting an LS1 into my 70 camaro. I have a factory temp gauge that I'd like to reuse. I also bought another temp gauge and an oil pressure gauge. How do I hook all of them up? Can I use the stock sender already in the block for my temp gauges? For the oil sender, can I just use the wire from the stock sender or do I have to take it out and put the sender that came with the gauge in? I hate looking for adapters and everything.

hooking up 2 temp gauges will be kinda tough, there are only 2 places to put senders from the factory. You could use a 98 camaro temp sender in the drivers side head to feed your PCM and factory gauge, the factory gauge won`t be perfectly accurate but it will be close. Then put your aftermarket gauge sender in the pass side head. You didn`t mention what thread the aftermarket sender is so I don`t know if it will fit right in on need adapters, but adapters are available from a few places in complete kits. You could also drill and tap the water pump and put your factory gauge sender in there, use the LSx factory sender in the drivers head, and then put the aftermarket sender in the pass head.

For the oil pressure either get an adapter and put it where the factory LSx sender was or you can drill and tap the blockoff plate by the oil filter.

There is info on adapters in the FAQ sticky at the top of the forum. The one from Equus is only about $8 and I was able to hook up both my temp and oil sender with it.

The oil pressure sender has an 1/8" NPT port and 1/4" NPT adapter fitting. The temp sender has an 1/8" NPT sender with 3/8" and 1/2" adapters.

If I only use my aftermarket gauge, can I put it in the passenger side head, and then use that plug to block the hole in the drivers side head, or should I just leave the stock sender in there?

I'm pretty sure the PCM wants that temp signal from the driver side head. At least my harness had a connector for it. At the very least it uses it to turn the fans on and off.
