Looks like the diameter is 5.25" at the nose, so the base would be bigger?

at 5.25", it looks like it would just clear the radiator hose, if I put it directly on the throttle body and do speed density.

I need to do something like this due to very tight area. Right now, my filter is sucking hot radiator air, and my intake temps can hit 180

My plan is to fit fresh air directly into that filter, and isolate the outside of it with a small housing.

If you know of any other similar filters that fit the LS1, let me know.

for my RX7 i am using a 3.5" x 4" 90* elbow to the MAF sensor, then a kit for a '94 -'01 V8 dodge truck (3.5" tube & filter inlet). I'll add an air dam so it gets some fresh air.

There is no room for elbows or an airbox. As you can see, there are moving suspension parts in the area... my best bet it to put a long and slim filter on the throttle body, and feed it directly with a NACA duct from the nose piece.

You can put the filter directly on the TB and run the car in speed density mode (no MAF). However, you need to find a place to mount the IAT sensor.

right, but does the filter I show clear the coolant hose? or is there another one people use?
