After talkin with some of the ls1 s10 on here I had come to the conclusion that my VSS sensor on the tailshaft of my 4L60E from a 2000 camaro was bad. I changed it and it still wont shift out of first and my speedometer dosent register either.

Does the the black vaccum looking line on top of the transmission need to be attched to something? If so what does it need to be attacthed too?

Any thought would be great guys, thanks for the help.

 

The metal line coming out the top of the trans should be a breather line, don`t attach it to vacuum.

Are you sure your stuck in 1st and not 3d? Try manually shifting into first and then nail it. If it pulls a lot better that means you were stuck in 3rd, which seems to happen once in a while. The default position for the trans is 3rd and if you are not getting 12V control power to the trans to control the shift solenoids it will be stuck in 3rd. Don`t ask how I figured that out .

 

Will that also cause the speedometer no to work? When I pull out on to the street there is no drop in rpms to show a shift, it just pulls and the rpms shoot straight up until I let off the gas.

 

did you touch the tranny before you intalled it?? opened it up etc..

 

I opened it up before the the first time I cranked it and changed the filter. I opened it again thursday night to change the filter again and change the detent shaft for my shifter cable. It was having the same trouble before I changed the filter for the second time and the detent shaft.
