Headers for second gen trans am
Headers for second gen trans am Which headers are people using for a LS1 or LQ9 engine? What modifications need to be done to them? I have seen the Pacesetters w/o emissions and the Hedman headers. Will they clear the AC on the pass. side? How do the shorty headers like BBK or JBA work?
i'm using the pacesetters on my 73 firebird with brp mounts and an lq9. pass side i had to cut off the flange and reweld it for subframe clearance, ( cut flush to the outside of flange, reinsert tubes to flush with the inside). drivers side had to cut around 3 sides of the collector, straighten it out, and reweld it for subframe clearance.there was plenty of room for the a/c box. i had the mockup block and tranny in and out about 6-8 times for header mods and the a/c frame notch.
