4L80E in a fox chassis mustang
has anyone tried this?
I just got my 4L80E today and man, does that thing look big! I know people stuff a th400 in the tranny tunnel but this looks a little bigger than a th400 if my memory serves correctly.
I have no problem using the BFH mod but having to cut out and weld in a new tunnel may deter me from using this tranny...

I would say that you are probably going to have to enlarge the tunnel some, more than just the BFH mod....
But it wouldnt be bad(as long as you have access to a welder, my folly at the house)
But if you do, cut and section the area up an inch or two, see how much room you need, fill it it with sheetmetal, not hard at all...
Might require some work at the fire wall too, but I cant say for sure, never had my hands on a 4L80e
Good luck with it though, and post some pics of what you did to make it fit.

I had to BFH the tunnel to fit a 4L60e with the engine set back as far as I liked (4.6L K-member and mounts). If you put the engine farther forward (SBC conversion K-member and SBC to LS1 conversion mounts) you'd have more room and it MIGHT fit without cutting.

hmm, I have access to a welder but I dont know how to weld. I think I'll just try and make it work. I really don't want to give up this 4L80E. just dont want to deal with 4L60Es breaking or lack of overdrive in a th400.
