Default 72 camaro mounts LS1

i have a 72 camaro with the clamshell mounts. i got the trans dapt plate adapters. the mount dont seem to line up at all!!! so i took it all apart and got my brothers 68 camaro mounts, the old style. since he had an ls1 also. those dont seem to match up with any holes in my cross member. any ideas? i can drill new holes but would rather it bolt right in.

1) Just Drill new holes (yeah...I Know it's can be hard to get the nuts and washers on, but it can be done with a good selection of tools and some glue/tape to hold nuts and washer to the tools as you snake it into the frame)

2) try other Frame mount (good idea anyway to get correct engine height) from other models and engine along with different motor mounts (can be different heights also. EnergySuspension makes a Tall and Narrow and a standard short/wide mounts)

3) Fab up some new frame mounts (JohnB's Monte site has a good one design to start wtih.)

Good luck

I made my BRP Style plates and used the Energy Suspension Tall and Narriow Poly mounts. #1117G (the 1114G is the standard mount). I messed around with both mounts to get the right engine height. if you need to drop the engine down the width of the base plate, you don't need it. The plate mounts will act as the base plate. I was about to move up and down about 3/4" using a combination of the mounts and plates. (I think I might still have the short and narrow sitting around, guess I should post and sell them)

It took a few hours to cut, drill, tap and grind to create my mounts with standard hand tools. I powder coated them myself. $10.00 invested for the steel.

from the Energy Suspension site.

Now did the frame side mount bolt right on? i bought those mounts today and they did not line up with any holes in my frame so i went back to my original mounts and drilled new holes.

The frame mounts bolted up, we did not have to redrill the frame to install them.
