Default Wiring fans

Right now mine are wired through relays to a toggle switch on the dash. Im really not fond of this set up, due to potential of forgetting turning them on.

What possibilities do I have. I was thinking about wiring to ignition, or buying a painless kit with thermostat. Is there a way to wire through the computer so they will turn on at a certain temp?

What set ups are you guys running??

There are 2 wires feeds for the fan from the PCM. 1 is for the low speed and 1 for the high speed. Where have you been? If you have it wired thru a relay then all you have to do is hook the hi speed fan output from the PCM to the coil of your relay and you're done. Well not completely done because you still have to test it out to see when it actually turn the fan on by get the car to operating temp and check to see the PCM sends out 12V to that feed wire. Gl

Assuming you have a truck engine and computer (because I would hope anyone with a car computer could figure out the fans) you will need to have someone actually turn on the fan controls in the computer. I don't believe the truck comp. is capable of using both fan functions, only the low temp fan 1.
So just turn it on in the computer, then the blue pin 42 is the fan control. It supplies a ground to the relays to turn on the fans.

My 2005 Suburban 5.3 has low and hi speeds with a blue and I believe green wire for hookups. Ain't to the point of trying it out yet though. This is in my 96 Blazer. Had them turned on and lowered 5 degrees each when tuned. Going to use 2 of the unused relays on the Under hood fuse center for the fans. I believe both on high speed will work on one relay. Flex a lite 220. Haven't checked the amp rate yet.
