Default LSx Diamension differences ???

Hi all this is my first Post here, so Hello....

I am building a Mid-Engined GT Car, and am going to use a LS1 as my mockup motor. My Questions are :-

1. If I build my chassis around a LS1 will I need to leave room anywhere to accommodate an LS2 or LS7 ??
2. Do they all have the same old Iron block Bell housing stud pattern ?
3. Does the LS7 dry sump pump make the engine any longer ?

Any Help would be greatfully received...

1. no. same size externally
2. if you're referring to a SBC, no.
3. no. it just has another two oil ports on the passenger side above the oil pan.

edit : its slightly longer behind the crank snout at the front, not noticeable. its no bigger than an LS2.

Maybe, depending upon which LSx accessory drive system you start with and end with. Trucks, F-body's, or Vettes use different access drives and different offsets from the front of the block. Truck is longest, Vette is shortest.

The LSx uses a modified SBC pattern. There is a new hole at 12 o'clock, and the 2 o'clock hole (below pass side head) is not used (there's a water jacket there, so you can't drill the hole. Its that way for both iron & alum LSx versions.

Also, the end of the crankshaft is in a slightly different position (its about .400" shorter overall). In order to use classic SBC parts and pieces, you need a spacer between the crank and flywheel / flexplate. Search for 4L80E spacer if you end up needing it (kit even comes with correct length bolts).

Shouldn't be appreciable, but see note above on #1
