LS4? The motor from a GTP?? I can get a good looking 95 eclipse GS-T that needs a new motor for CHEAP. Might be a fun conversion. i know the GST is FWD, so i figure LS1/2 is way outta the question... but an LS4 or a GTP motor (whats the engine code for the GTP?) would be pretty sweet i think. Any thoughts?

Convert it to rear wheel drive. All you need is a welder, sawzall, BFH, and plenty Thats what I would do anyway.

First off, you're looking for GXP parts, not GTP; GTP is a blown 6.

Secondly, the GM FWD 4t65e-HD (GXP) tranny is fairly weak, if you're looking to make much power.

Thirdly, it'll be hell to fit that in the bay of a DSM; you'd probably need frame rail modifications to get it in there.

Finally, just convert it to RWD; there are diffs for the back on the normal market, and they basically bolt in. Stick an LS1 in the front, make it RWD and have fun, and probably spend the same or less on it.

Engine code for the GTP or SS motor is L67. Supercharged 3.8 Liter V6 and has alot of aftermarket support. I'd go with the L67 personally over the LS4, but I have seen one LS1 in a Grand Prix, it's in the conversions section on fullthrottlev6.com

OK, so, is going L67 swap more realistic than LSx? the L67 is FWD car, which makes it a LITTLE more doable... maybe i'll just put another 4banger in there...

Just take a look in this thread: clicky

You'll get an idea of how much the LS1 takes up in the engine bay of a W-body.

I'd just save yourself the trouble and put rods/pistons in the motor in the car with an LSD and a big turbo and have a badass roll race car. They can easily trap in the 120's like this.
