The transfer case out of the Cadillac escalade is a full time unit which would be a poor swap for a 4x4 truck. Not to mention it is a driver side drop. The 6.0L swap into a 71 been done I have see a couple on the web.

A k5 blazer right ??

I'm a member to a k5 board and there is 2 or 3 guyz on there that have 6.0's in their k5 blazer.

They all love them.

You need to use a rh drop 241 out of a 88-91 suburban or k5 and it will bolt right up and no computer controls.

I have a ls1 in my 71 K5 but it is a 2wd. It is a relatively simple swap.

You use the 4l60/4l80 and then NP241 out of a 90 to 91 burb/blazer with a VSS. You can use a NP208 but you will need a external VSS.
