I say go with it. There is a guy on the Impala forums that put an LQ9 in a 4.3 Liter 95 Caprice. His screen name was 2blue or something like that. There is also another guy that did the conversion years ago with an ls1 and six speed. NA he was running in the 12's. That is very impressive for an Impala SS. Most are happy to run in the 13's with a ton of bolt ons.
It really does not look that hard based on the research I have done and you have all the big displacement potential you would ever need with all the new LSx blocks coming out.
Good luck

The LS1 4L60E is not hard to do. I have a buddy that does conversions in FL, he does mostly S-10's but also does others. If your interested pm me and I'll pass his info along.
GarBoy,
I'll bet my cars would give you a heart attack then! I put LSX engines and late model drivetrains under incredibly collectible old Corvettes. It is all about what floats you boat, and other people's views really should have little to do with it!

The 500cid LSX from GMPP...jeez
Now thats a stump puller!
Gar A man can never have to many hotrods. For me, it is more about the project than the owning. I love driving these cars, but I am no sooner finished with one project, before I am looking for the next one!
The truth is, that I never cut up a good restorable car to do these projects. I always look for deleric hulks to produce these cars from. I also build NCRS restoration cars, and could never bring myself to butcher a restorable car.
You probably noticed on the pics of the 65, that almost every single body panel on the car was replaced other than the doors and body tub. This car had been given a 70's customization with flares on all corners, glassed-up headlights, and camaro tail lights. I try to end up with a car that looks as close to original as possible.
