Default lt1 to ls1 swap

Hey guys, new to forum I have a 95 z28 with the stock lt1 and 4l60e. I was wondering if anyone had done a complete ls1 and t-56 swap? I was wondering what all I would need to do it. I have access to the engine and trans., I have heard that a corvette fuel rail is needed to compensate for the return fuel system on the lt1. Just curious of anything else I may run into before starting. The engine in the car now is about to hit 200,000 miles, it has been a good one, but I have been a fan of the ls1 since it came out. Thanks for any help.

much easier and more cost efficient to sell your lt1 and buy an LS1 car. Most people that contemplate swapping lt1 to an ls1 are people that already have thousands of dollars invested into their car and don't want to cut their losses. If your car is stock, sell it and buy a 98+

My biggest question is how to run the dash I want to keep my stock dash.

There is no plug and play adapter, but GM is smart enough to keep everything the same color for the most part. If you get a couple wiring diagrams, making all the instruments work is fairly easy.

whenever I do swaps, I just use factory GM manuals. Most dealerships will let you borrow their paperback manuals as they now use their own online programs.

We offer a full plug and play conversion on the factory LS1 harness into the LT1 F-bodies. All gauges work, etc.

Thanks for the advice, i'm really glad to find out that there is a complete harness available to keep all my stock guages. Does anybody know if there is alot of cutting involved when installing the t-56 into an automatic car?

About the only cutting you are going to have to do is to cut a hole for the shifter to poke through and drill a hole for the clutch master cylinder.

Default manual swap

Thanks for the info, is good to know that not much cutting is required. This may be a stupid question, but, is it ok to run the ecu for an automatic? Do I need to find one out of a manual? Just wondering, thought it may cause ses light to come on.

the swap itself is easy . a lot of people make it seem difficult. mine was pretty involved and a lot of attention to detail went in as well. but i still retained my factory 96 lt1 gauges. the vette fuel rails are not needed. you can use the dead head setup. i had my way with it

You can reuse your stock PCM and it will start and run but you will need to have it re-flashed for a manual trans. Otherwise you're going to get a whole lot of codes when the PCM doesn't hear from the tranny.....
