Default ls1 size compared to Ford 302 and gen1 sbc

I can't find this with search, here or on the internet, so:

How does the LSx series compare, sizewise, with the Ford 302 and gen1 sbc?

Width is the issue.

I ask because I have a Jaguar xke project with 6 cylinder frame rails, John's conversion for Chevy (gen1 style sbc) only fits v-12 frame rails, but says the Ford 302 will fit in the 6 cyl frame rails.

The xke uses a tubular sub-frame front end, not like the sedan series which have a detroit style engine bay.

I don't want to cut anything on the frame or make any irreversible modifications.

Thanks for any help.

This is the truck motors 4.8/5.3/6.0. The LS1/Ls2/LS6 are shorter and not as tall. And there are several differnt oil pan depths as well.
