Default LT1 Into Intrepid

This may sound really dumb, but is it even possible? How would you work the transmission? Would you have to convert to RWD?

Thanks for the help with the really dumb question guys!

what year? I had a 93 with the 3.5L and there seemed to be quite a bit of room. I would THINK you could get the transaxle out of the new V8 GrandPrix/ImpallaSS, though I would think you would have a better performing car if you went RWD.

easiest way IMO would be to convert to rwd. the motor dosent sit sideways in that engine bay. the space is there, just need to mount a rear end and make sure there is enough room for a drive shaft. i dont really see a point in this conversion, even if you were given an intrepid, they are ugly and then you would be stuck with this weird suspension that im sure nobody makes parts for.

do a focus

my bad...I JUST CAUGHT the "LT1" part (thought LS1)....

LT1 would match up to any SBC transaxle but as others have said, the Intrepid engine didn't sit trasverse (though if I remember my 93 correctly, there really wasn't any room for an extra pair of cylinders...engine bay isn't long enough)....

as others will hit on....WHY??? they were crappy cars, didn't look good, and you can just BUY an LT1 car to start with for much less than the conversion will go for....

Thanks for the help guys.

It's a 1995 Intrepid, and yes, I know the car is a POS. It's not mine, but my friends, and he has always wanted to put an LT1 or something comparable. It sounded sketchey to me, so I decided to ask you guys, seeing you you all know a LOT more than I do.

As for me, I'm wating until I can afford my LS1 Camaro!

Thanks!
