Looking for info on 5.3 wiring harnesses. I got a complete 5.3 with a Jeep I just bought. Only thing missing is the computer. Is there any way to determine what year the 5.3 is from? And what year computers will work for what year harnesses? Didnt seem to be a lot of info in the stickies about truck stuff.

Some of the signs are the throttle body, cable or drive by wire, EGR is another. Some came with EGR some didn't. My 2002 GMC motor didn't have EGR. To bad you don't have the computer, it has a number on it that will narrow it down to a group of years.

 

Yea, thats killin me as thats all Im really missing for the motor. I haddnt payed much attention to see if it had EGR or not. Im going to snap some pix of it tomorow so maybe that'll help.

If you get further into it and need a pcm I have one out of an 01 fs truck.

 

Well took a look at the motor/harness today. Its a drive by wire engine. A tag on the PCM connector said build date was 1/27/03, with a GM part number of 15192316.
