LS 402 Into a 78 C10 2WD ?
Hello all,
Sitting in my parents yard, is my old 78 C10 Automatic that I purchased new. It's really past help (Body Wise), but it's all there.
I'll need a truck for the farm and etc. and I'm thinking of transplanting the 402 out of my 2000 TA into this. Then a new heart transplant for the TA.
There's plenty of room under the hood so I don't forsee any problems in making it fit. Just wiring and trans. I would prefer converting it to a 5 speed but if the newer Truck Auto would hold up to minor pulling + - 4 to 6,000 lbs.
I would stick with an Automatic.
I could buy a newer truck but I'm partial to this one. It also has the larger rear end. Probably be best to buy a complete donar out of a newer PU and utilize the wiring, fuel tank etc....? I want to stay EFI no carb.
I did a search for info but came up with nothing.
Thanks for any input.

If you are going to buy a complete donor out of a newer truck go for a 6.0L truck. It should have a 4l80e auto behind it and that will hold up to towing.
The fuel tank might fit, but you may have to build brackets for it. I think that the fuel tank out of a late 80`s pickup with EFI would be a direct bolt in and already be set up for EFI. Just put a higher pressure pump in it.
