Default trying to decide where to mount my pcm

i was thinking of mounting it on the pass inner fender, and it will sit nicely heats not really an issue, but i was thinking of mounting it inside on the trans tunnel. i was wondering 2 things. one, is it really necessary to extend the wires to pcm? and 2, couldn't i just lenghten the c100 , c101 , 102 , and c105 connectors?

I plan on sticking it under the dash. One important thing my tuner told me. It needs to be easily removavble, because they use the roadrunner to tune. So I will have to unplug my PCM and plug in the roadrunner. After the tune is done it can be flashed back to my PCM.

I extended the three main connectors. It was only a handfull of wires. Soldered them and used heat shrink tubing. IT doesnt take long, and allows you to mount things where you want. Thats all I needed to mess with though. Everything else was long enough. This was in an 87 Trans AM...

Extending wires isnt a big deal, but if you had to extend all the PCM wires...that would be a bitch. Doable...but a bitch.

I put mine right on top of the Trans tunnel just behind the Firewall. use a S10 holder and some 1/2" still strap to mount it to the floor board. Making a Console to cover and hold a few gauges, idiot light and the ODBII connector. Oh.. and if I can design something for the important cup holder..

did you have to extend any wires?

i have the factory f-bod cpu holder so mounting is no big deal, and im just not going to bother lenghtening any of the wires to the pcm. but there are 4 other connectors real close to the main pcm connectors (i think c100 , c101 and 2 more). i wouldnt realy mind lenghtening these. but i dont even know what they plug into.

no, i mean, i know what each individual wire is for (because of the pinouts etc) but where do they plug into. since they are so close to the pcm i doubt, they plug into sensors on the engine. i'm guessing they plug into the body control module or something?

see, what im trying to figure out is, if those wires get cut anyway (for splicing purposes) then i will go ahead and mount my pcm inside, but i dont want to go through the truoble of cutting a hole in my firewall just to find out later that it wont work.

i never pulled this harness out of a car , i got it in the mail so i have no idea how this thing was hooked up, thats why im a little confuzed.

hook it up to the engine sensors and starter and such and rout all the wires back and see if you have enough length to mount the pcm in the people compartment. If not your going to have to lengthen the wires.

Here is where mine went, the A/C evap case now resides almost above it on the right side of the car.
