Engine Swap and CA Smog?

Engine Swap and CA Smog? so some guy on a jeep forum is telling my brother that he needs to run the 4l60e tranny to pass smog. I think the guy is full of crap.
From what I understand you just have to retain all the smog stuff and it doesn;t make any difference what transmission you use....I could be wrong.

Smog rules go by the donor car, and if you pick one with a automatic transmission that has the shifting controlled by the EMU things could get real sticky for you. More common is that the tranny sends some signal to the EMU about the gear and speed and you might have to make a "box" that creates that signal. You will not pass if the EMU is showing any error codes. Good luck, and its lots of YMMV.
