Default New Project 951 Widebody.

Ended up picking up a new project car from Ohio last weekend. Didnt really plan on it but I couldnt pass up the deal. It is a 86 951 with GT-Racing Widebody 1 piece front end (74") and Lemans rear quarters. Also has a 10 point nascar style door bar cage. Also been tubed out a little in the rear to fit 12" tire. It was also redone with aluminum sheet metal. Also has a 60 Functional Carbon wing which is fully adjustable. Fiberglass front diffuser made for the front end the car has(not pictured). Sure I forgot some other stuff but you get the idea. The car was being built of PCA GT3 specs. But I believe I will be finishing it to compete in open SSCA NASA and do some Time Attacks. Plans are 968 drivetrain, 993 brakes and a LS1 stroker with around around 450rwhp. Project will be on hold for awhile but thought you guys might like to see it.

Ya your telling me, I have a problem. Got way to many projects at once. Didnt plan on it at all. Didnt mean for it to end up this way. I had the money saved to build the RB30 for the Z32. But then I found the 951 and a FD roller and I couldnt pass them up. But I am happy I got them. Just have to wait to finish them and put the motor on hold till I save up some more $$$.

Thanks man, I always loved the factory agressive fender flares. But this widebody setup takes it to a whole new level.

Conversion cars have been a real boon to the storage industry.

Ya it was for sale on eBay for a bit. Probably would fly with them to well. I couldnt bring it to tell the guy I bought it from my LS1 plans. But for me it is the easiest and a afforable way to achieve my goals and still be reliable.

450rwhp may be pushing it a bit with the 968 drive train. Are you thinking the 6 speed? The model 01E 6 speed variant used in the 968 has reports of handling your kind of power, but those reports are pretty sketchy, AFAIK. What do you believe the weight of the finished car would be, as that would have an impact on transaxle surviveability.

I talked to Renegade MotorSports they feel the 968 6-speed should be up to the task. The nonturbo 944 trans is rated at 300hp and I believe the turbo is 450hp. Not sure on a weight for the finished product but I assume under 2350lbs.
