It's not a big deal since you have to swap master cylinders anyways and end up using mostly GM parts. My chassis was once an auto and it doesn't really make much difference. Jump on any clean body that you can find.

All you will need is to cut the brake pedal (or buy the manual one) and get a clutch pedal assembly. Then, cut the holes in the firewall (they're marked from the factory on both, but only the manuals actually get cut. So, there is already a pattern for where to drill.) Since the tranny, shifter, etc. is all GM, the only other thing you'll need Nissan wise is the shift boot and trim pieces around there. I might be forgetting some small things since my car has been a work in progress for years and most of the stock stuff is gone. Hopefully somebody will chime in w/ any additional info.

I hate to, but am forced to ask if you are really ready to do this swap if something so simple has you stumped? I'm not putting you down at all, but this should be fairly common knowledge as it's basically the same on any car. I'm guessing you didn't find any info, because nobody else had to ask.

Good luck!

no i wasnt asking about like the pedal sets or anything like that. i did a full auto to stick swap in my rx7. really it is the mounting of the trans. are the trans mounts on the 240 in the same place for the auto one as the stick ones. its really about the mounts im going to have to fab. i would prefer them to span as little length as possable and was wondering if the auto or 5 speed is a better platform is all.

Ahhh...that clears it up.

The place they bolt to on the unibody is the same. The actual crossmember that the mount bolts to is slightly different, but of course the chassis itself will be unchanged between the auto and manual versions.

All you need is a flat piece of aluminum (~3/8" thick) and some spacers for the driver side where the mounting point is a couple of inches higher than on the passenger side.

This is after the main piece was cut. It is shaped like that because the mounting point on the T56 is further back than where the 240 tranny mounts. Simply drill holes from there and make some spacers (for the crossmember to bolt to the chassis) and you're finished besides making a new tranny mount to fill in the space between the T56 and the aluminum crossmember. I just used some polyurethane and sandwiched it between the two (T56 and aluminum crossmember). Sorry if this is confusing. I'll try and get pics this weekend.

Auto to manual swaps are pretty easy. I don't even swap the manual brake petal anymore, too much work. I just cut the auto brake pedal down to size.
