Default LS-1 with a carb

Now that the conversion has been out there for a while, and I see that a lot of folks have made the switch, what are your opinions? The simplicity of the swap is appealing, but how is the overall performance, driveability and reliability? Is it the better way to go or is the EFI approach worth the effort?

At the end I think it only has to do with what you are comfortable tuning, but the simplicity of the carb is great.

I went with a carb because i know how to tune one and its cheap. i didnt want to worry about sensors going bad and paying 300-400 dollars everytime i want to get it tuned, If you have a problem you will pay to find out what is wrong, i am poor so i went with a carb lol.

at $550 for my carb, i wouldn't call it cheap. but definately agree with you. i'm doing a carb conversion now but have never driven a carbed lsx motor. i never had any problems with my old '79 TA that i put a 455 olds motor in. when it's cold, had to pump the gas pedal 2 or 3 times and it would fire right up. when it's hot, meaning if i've been driving around and run into the store or something, come back out and just bump the key and vroom, every time. that car would start faster than any efi car would! also had a '78 elky that i never had a problem with, but neither of them had the cam that this one is about to get either!
