Ok, I feel retarded for asking this, but, as far as mounting points/tranny are concerned, the bolting points are the same, right? I ask because I have a car all ready for teh LS1, but I'm having a little trouble getting the cash (long story), so I was going to try and just find a cheap LT1 until I could find an LS1.

no, the engine mounts are different.

why not snag a 4.8 if you're low on cash? then itll be ready for the ls1.

get a 4.8 or 5.3 they have the same mounting points as a ls1 and everthing will interchange, plus they are cheap

The mounting points, transmission, and wiring are completely different. If you are short on cash pick up a 4.8L or 5.3L, they have the same mounting points, transmission and the wiring will be the same if you use the f-body coils, injectors, accys, and intake manifold. You should be able to easily pick up a long block for a 4.8L for under $1000.
