Because they couldn't put it in the same spot as the trucks because the floor pans are lower and the wheel base is shorter than a regular cab short bed truck.

Ahhh...Hah! That explains it...The floor pans don't even exsist on a pick-up. So...Now I'm wondering if a Tahoe fuel tank could be installed in the rear of a pick-up? You would then have more weight transfered to the back end of the truck for traction/weight transfer, AND the ability to install "true" dual exhaust. Things that make you go...Hmmmm.
