LQ4 Longblock

I found an LQ4 longblock local (lost wages). The salvage yard wants $650. for it. The problem is it had a fire. Neither one of us is sure if it was an engine fire or electrical, but i think it was engine. How much should I offer the guy or is his asking price fair?

block
crank
rods
pistons
oilpan
heads
valves
springs
rockers
front and rear covers

You should look at it and see what the extent of the damage is ...

I did look at it. But I am no expert on this. You can tell there was a fire but it did not look like the heads had melted or warped. They are black around the valve springs and ine the valley between the heads.

I'd offer whatever he will go the lowest for. Most of the stuff will be reusable, however a good rebuild on this motor could be anywhere from 200 to 2000, so it depends on how good you are with engine rebuilding and replacing parts.

unless ur gettin for 100$ as is, go for it, but
if the heads are warped from the heat, at least the block and rotating
assembly will still be acceptable. to rebuild

Thanks guys for the help. He did not want to come down at all on the price so I desided to pass. I'll know more what to look for if I come across another one.
