engine temp for the pcm?

engine temp for the pcm? Someone pm'd me-
Does the pcm care about engine temp?
I mean does the factory temp probe in the forward end of the drivers side head need to be connected or can it be deleated?
And I am not really sure...so how about a little help on this one.
this person has a 98. and from the factory schematic I see 3 wires coming off of the sensor. the dark green goes to the gauge, and the yellow and the brown go to the pcm. brown is a ground and yellow gets five volts. But does the pcm need to have some type reference inregards to temp...ie;timing perhaps?

Yeah Im pretty sure the PCM needs it... Main thing I can think of is for fans to turn on, and it might determine when the motor goes into closed loop. Not sure on that one tho. I would leave it wired in.

Very important input for the pcm it decides everything from timing to fueling tables fan operation and converter clutch lockup it must have it. If they need to have a factory gauge working the green wire goes to the gauge.
The PCM uses this for many functions from reading the temp for cold and hot starts to get the tunning correct. Also controles the closed loop function as well as the over heat temp and it will cut the motor off. You must have this sensor!
