is it an LSx (f-body, etc) alternator?

And what does "LS1 327" mean?

I can`t really give specifics without knowing which what engine, and alternator you have, but if you check the FAQ sticky post #13 theres a link to how to hook up LSx alternators.

Here is a copy/paste of what G-Body had me do to mine, but remember, my alternator is a 2000 f-body so yours may be different.

Since it is a f-body alt it should be an easy 1 wire hookup. You only need to connect terminal B on the alternator to a +12V resistance source. Theres more info in this thread https://ls1tech.com/forums/showt...ight=alternator
But basically you can go about it in 2 ways.

A. Connect a wire to terminal B on the 4 pin plug and then connect it to a 470 ohm 1/2 watt resistor and then connect the other side of that resistor to a +12V IGN+ source (IE coil wire).

B. You could also use the factory idiot light in your monte. On the original 305 alternator there was a brown wire that connected to the 2 pin connector for that alternator. It goes into the dashboard, to the alt idiot light and then to +12V IGN+. If you hook this wire up to the alt the idiot light for the alt will work just like it did from the factory.

The f-body and truck alternators are different. All the 98-02 f-body alternators use a single wire hookup. Most of the trucks use a 2 wire hookup, but I have seen a 1999 6.0L truck that only used one wire. If it is a 2001 or newer alternator I would say it is a 2 wire hookup, if its is a 99-00 I am not so sure. The 2 wire truck alts use 12V through a resistor or lightbulb to terminal B, and IGN + 12V to terminal C.
