LS1 temps...

Hey guys,
302 and 351 Windsor engines are bad about running on the warm side. Especially, in a fox body that has limited air flow, then add a trans cooler and intercooler in front of the radiator.

How bad are LSX engines about running hot???

They run pretty cool. I had a 350 in mine before the LS1 and it ran hotter. Mine stays right at 180 most of the time, never above about 205

they told me they run about 200-220 in a stock car and they will shut off befor they overheat(computer will shut it down)

mine always runs 180 too. you just need to put in a 160* t'stat and call it a day. i still run a stock radiator and have no intentions of going with anything bigger.

Not sure what the CFM is...but im running the stock LS1 fans in my thirdgen. Mine rarely goes above 180 while running it fairly hard. Sometimes in traffic it will creep alittle, but drops as soon as the fans kick onto high. It runs about 30 degrees cooler than my 305 I had in the car before.

And this is in a thirdgen firebird with no grill opening. So Im not getting good airflow unless Im movin...
