Default Vette running at 150 degrees??

My 66 Vette with 99 LS1/6 speed is running at 150/160 degrees during normal driving. I have a new cross-flow alum double pass radiator with a sender (Ron Francis) to turn on an electric fan at 200 and of at 185. I have the temp sender for the computer in the front of the driver side head and the other senders (gauge and fan) in the rear of the pass head (on a tee). I had a Hypertech t'stat (178) but have reinstalled the stock one for now with similar results. I tested both t'stats in hot water and the Hypertech started opening at 175 and was fully open at 185/190. The stock one started opening at 170!! and was fully open at 190. I have a bung in the radiator but thought this not to be as accurate as in the head. The temp will rise to 180 at idle after 10-15 minutes but is reluctant to get hotter. I shut it down and restart and it gets warm enuf to turn on the fans. I jump in and drive 4-5 miles and its back to 160! Am I worried about nothing?

Mega,
I have a new Autometer gauge and when the fan came on it read 200 which is exactly what the fan sensor is set at. The fan goes off at 185 and, once again the gauge was right on. The only thing that bothers me by running this cool is if the system will go into closed loop. To do so I believe the Oxy sensor must be at 650, right? I need to scan the motor to find out what is happening.
Thanks,
Nick

Wouldn't the o2s go off exhaust temp, entirely different than motor temp? Don't think my motor would last long @600+

I think I may have found a solution. I scanned the computer and found the coolant temp to be 195 (sender at L head front) while my temp gauge read 180. I have the temp gauge and fan sensors tee'd into the R head rear. The senders are not in the coolant flow causing them to read low (I think). I will leave the fan sensor where its at but screw it into the block and move the gauge sender to the radiator. The radiator bung is close to the top so should give me a fairly accurate reading. We'll see what happens. It sure is a PITA to purge the coolin system of air.

I made the changes noted and it is working a lot better. The scanned real time temp is the same as the gauge. The fans come on a little later (210) than they're supposed to and stay on a little longer but I think I may still have a little air in the system. Overall this is much better
