Default 2006 GTO LS2 into a 2nd Gen Camaro

I just purchased a 2006 LS2 w/T-56 pullout from a GTO and noticed the oil pan has a front sump. I thought all 2006 LS2's were using the C6 corvette style oil pan with a rear sump. Does anyone know if the C6 style oil pan will fit into a 73 camaro without modification?

Also does the 2006 LS2 require the steam line mod to the water pump or was that just and LS1 requirement?

thanks.

The f body oil pan will fit the best. You will need pan, windage tray, pickup, dipstick, and tube. When you have the pan off, be sure and pop the plug out where the dipstick tube goes in the block. If you use the 4th gen radiator and fans, you can use the steam line to rad. The rad. and fans fit really well in these cars.

The LS2 (C6) oil pan also is deeper in the front part of the slump and might cause you clearence problem and you might have to raise the engine to clear the x-member or steering compones.

Your best fit is a F-Body and depending on which adapter plate you use, may or may not require notching. The CTS-V is your second best fit, simular to the F-Body but short from front to back on the rear/lower slump but also a little over 1" deeper in the rear/lower slump area.

Yes, there is still a steam line that you will need to connect into the cooling system, but that can be done in many way, to the rad, heater lines, upper rad hose or the water pump.

Yes, #12558762 would be the correct one for a F-Body Oil Pan as are the rest of your part numbers.

thanks BC. I'll add a bung to the radiator for the steam line. Does the bung need to be at the coolant level or should it be located at the top of the radiator?

I have mine at the top just below the filler neck, I don't think it really makes much different, as long as the steam and air can excape into the Raditor. Other have put Tee's in the Raditor hose, the Heat hose (GM does this on other model cars) or have drilled and tap the top of the water pump.
