Just bought all new Autometer Ultra-lite gauges and I forgot were the Speedometer signal comes from. The ecm or the T-56? Also what pulse rate do I adjust the dim switches to? Thanks.

You can also get the signal directly from the VSS sensor if the gauge can read it. You should be a to Calibrate the gauge for the pulse per rev. I have started to look into this myself and plan to pickup a set of Ultra-Lite for my winter down time project.

Thanks guys. I think I'm going to use the ECM signal first.
Picked a 5" on Evel Bay last night for $99 NIB. Just keep your eye's open.

As long as your speedo can use a DC square wave signal it will work.
My autometer had 2 different contacts for the input. One was labeled Sine wave and the other was labeled square wave. I hooked up the one labeled square wave to the otuput from the PCM and it worked perfectly. But I have read posts by some members with autometer speedos who said they had to tap into the VSS signal before it got to the PCM.
Hmm.. I just went to autometers site and pulled up their installation instructions... http://www.autometer.com/tech_installation.aspx They say to hook the speedo directly to the VSS (C2 pin 21 purple with wht stripe wire). I guess their new speedos will only accept a sine wave signal??? I wonder why they did away with the ability to pick which signal you wanted to use?

I have an UltraLite-II speedo running off the PCM signal. I recalibrated the PCM to my tires/gears, then calibrated the speedo for exactly 4000ppm (8000 pulses on the 2-mile autometer calibration).

The back of the speedo should have 2 ports labeled "SIG" and "OUT". The model I have is the 4489. Connect the VSS output from transmission to the “SIG” input on the speedo. Connect the "OUT" from the speedo to the ECM where the original VSS signal went. The "OUT" will provide a signal buffer to the ECM. You still need to do the 2 mile calibration at the end.
