Default Can I MAKE a car?

I've been looking through some magazines, and seen that you can now buy a powdercoated tubular frame for a 69 Camaro. Can I build a Camaro with off-the-shelf parts now? Go to the magazine for Frame and suspension, VFN for fiberglass body panels, source other body panels, and have a sheetmetal interior? In 10 years down the road(I'm only 18) I want to build something like this, with whatever engine is badass at that point.

Is there so much aftermarket now that I don't need to start with a car? This would be my dream daily driver, a 69 Camaro that I built completely.

Before you build a car from scratch, go visit your local DMV and find out what you need to do to register it. That little holdup gets a lot of people in trouble. Most states allow for homebuilt vehicles, and have various inspections and fees. Find out what it is going to take to register the vehicle, then decide what you ant to do. A popular option with a lot of older cars is to buy the remains of a non-resotorable car, and use the VIN. This is not always legal though, so go find out.

In Kansas it's not difficult to register, although something most people don't think of is that you have to have an excellent amount of documentation (bill of sale, etc.. ) documenting where the parts come from. This is only to insure that the parts weren't stolen.

As long as you keep highly detailed records, and you're familiar with your states DMV protocols, you shouldn't have a problem.

You can build a 1st gen Camaro from scratch with new reproduction parts, but it'll cost a LOT of cash. One of the car shows that plays on Spike TV on Sunday mornings is in the middle of an all-new Camaro build. You might want to tune in and check it out.

The show's name is MuscleCar. They actually finished the car quite some time ago, although they are in the middle of a series of reruns. It's a '69 Convertible. The project is called the "Crate Camaro."

In addition to that, "Chop, Cut, Rebuild" is doing a show car for Dynacorn using their reproduction '67 Shells

I'm aware I'll probly be in the hole $80-$100,000 for this car. I will NOT skimp on anything. Sheetmetal interior, Corbeau seats(f*ck backseats lol), individual throttle bodies, POR15 underbody and engine/tranny protective coating, autometer gauges for everything. I can see the car right now. It is a dark blue metallic/black metallic mistichrome type paint. It'll blow your socks off at a show or on the street.

Everything will be documented. I have a journal of my car right now. I've had it for less than a year and have already gone through about 6 pages of mods, track nights, street kills, and problems that have arose, complete with date and mileage for everything. I'm into my car about $12,000(plus cost of car) and have all the reciepts in the back.

EDIT- O yeah, I might see if I can get EVERY bolt an ARP hardened stainless 12pt. Have confidence in your equipment.
