I understand the looks of the truck intake isn't quite as slick as the LS1/6/FAST, but, after you change the intake and go through all the steps to make it work, you might as well have chosen the LS1 engine to begin with. Now, if it's hood clearence that you were concerned about, then the LS^ is probably the best bet.
Yes, I know, the truck manifold is as ugly as a blind date. But if you have the hood clearance keeping it would help your little engine a lot. If you are carefull, you could probably remove some of the nubs, nuts, and ribs that you aren't using and smooth the manifold some. Wether or not it would look better with the "beauty cover" is a matter of personal tast and opinion. As mentioned before, there are also accessory and throttle body interference issues when putting a car manifold on the truck engines.
You are lucky in that your truck manifold is molded in one piece. The newer ones consist of three pieces glued together, and are way uglier than what you have.
