Default what intake to use on 4.8

i dont like the looks of truck intake, the motor is 4.8 from 2002 truck, it will be geting thunder racing cam , custom grind for the motor around 216-218 intake and 220 or so for ex,long tube headers, later down the line it will be geting ported heads, and or know using super t-10 with 3.73s, so what one to use, ls1,ls6 or fast intake?

Unless you are going to spray it, or go FI, stick with the LS6, it will feed more than enough air to the 4.8/5.3.

If you can fit the beauty cover over it, that really is an awesome intake. It outflows the LS1 intake, and is as good as the LS6 until you really start to rev it up. Chagning the intake isn't hard, but will cost you as the front accesories need to be changed. I thing there have been a few people that figured out how to use truck acc. with a car intake, but I can't find them.

LS6. The truck intake outflows the LS1's.

I understand the looks of the truck intake isn't quite as slick as the LS1/6/FAST, but, after you change the intake and go through all the steps to make it work, you might as well have chosen the LS1 engine to begin with. Now, if it's hood clearence that you were concerned about, then the LS^ is probably the best bet.

Keep in mind that it's just a 4.8. The longer runners in the truck manifold will help the torque in the lower revs. With the LS6 manifold you would have to rev the livin' **** out of it to see any power advantage.
Yes, I know, the truck manifold is as ugly as a blind date. But if you have the hood clearance keeping it would help your little engine a lot. If you are carefull, you could probably remove some of the nubs, nuts, and ribs that you aren't using and smooth the manifold some. Wether or not it would look better with the "beauty cover" is a matter of personal tast and opinion. As mentioned before, there are also accessory and throttle body interference issues when putting a car manifold on the truck engines.
You are lucky in that your truck manifold is molded in one piece. The newer ones consist of three pieces glued together, and are way uglier than what you have.
